Statement From the PBM Accountability Project of Florida on the Passage of Senate Bill 1550

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 19, 2023

Tallahassee, Fla. – Former State Senator John Grant, President of Seniors Across America and member of the PBM Accountability Project of Florida, issued the following statement applauding the members of the Florida Senate for the passage of Senate Bill 1550:

"The PBM Accountability Project of Florida commends the Florida Senate and SB 1550’s bill sponsor, Senator Jason Brodeur, for taking a stand against PBMs and passing meaningful legislation in the Senate. Floridians, especially Florida’s seniors, are already dealing with the impacts of inflation, and they simply cannot afford the further financial strain of higher drug prices driven by PBM greed. It is time to put an end to the predatory practices of PBMs and deliver lower prescription drug costs to Floridians.”

PBMs manage the prescription drug benefit for public and private health insurers and were meant to give patients and purchasers leverage when negotiating prescription medicine prices. However, these multi-billion-dollar corporations continue to profit off our complicated drug pricing system. To learn more about this issue, visit www.pbmaccountabilityfl.org.
